Electronics Technology and Robotics I Curriculum

Introduction: The course assumes the students know nothing about electronics or robotics so we start from scratch. The textbooks for the course are Electricity and Electronics by Gerrish, Dugger, Roberts and Robot Building for Beginners by David Cook since they cover the fundamentals of electronics and robotics and provide a hands-on robot project called Sandwich. The material on electronics is supplemented with additional information from numerous sources.

The course fee is $150 to pay for the Sandwich parts and textbooks. The students meet for three hours during one weekly session. The focus in the course is hands-on learning using the appropiate equipment and tools. The students use a soldering iron, metal lathe, drill press, and band saw in the construction of Sandwich and a digital multi-meter, signal generator, and oscilloscope in the study of electronics.
